About this course
You need to be in employment for a minimum of 30 hours. There is a minimum wage of £3.50 for 16 to 18-year-olds applies from April 2017. If the learner is aged 19 or over, the second year is normal minimum wage

Course programme
Year 1
You will start making progress towards both mandatory and optional units. The mandatory units are as follows: communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults, develop professional relationships with children, young people and adults, engage in personal development in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings, promote children and young people’s positive behaviour, promote equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people, schools as organisations, support assessment for learning, support children and young people’s health and safety, support learning activities, understand child and young person development and understand how to safeguard the wellbeing of children and young people.
You will also be required to complete Functional Skills if you currently do not hold a level 2 in English, ICT and maths. Additional support can be provided if needed.
You will continue to be assessed against the units and complete any required assessments and tests
