One and half day workshop
Specific soft tissue mobilisation is an approach to the management of soft tissue dysfunction that integrates current knowledge regarding anatomy, biornechanics and the healing process. The focus is on understanding the importance of progressively loading tissues during the healing process, on exploring practical methods of treatment application and on understanding and justifying the scientific rationale behind this approach. The balance of the course is 40% theory and 60% practical.
Course learning objectives:
By the end of the course the student should have:
- An understanding of the philosophy of SSTM
- An increased understanding of the healing process and biornechanical properties of soft tissue
- An understanding of the assumptions made in the use of SSTM
- An increased ability to justify the use of SSTM in the management of soft tissue dysfunction of the lower limb
- An understanding of the principles and practice of SSTM techniques
- Experienced the application of a range of lower limb SSTM and be able to apply these in the clinical setting.
