The Speech therapist deals with phonetic disorders and developmental language disorders, that is, errors in pronunciation, delay or distortion of the stages of language acquisition; specific learning disorders, that is, difficulties in reading, writing or counting (dyslexia, spelling, dysgraphia, dyscalculia) and in saying and / or constructing the sentence correctly; stuttering, that is, when speaking you "get stuck" or you are unable to speak in a "fluent" way. These difficulties can be present in bilingual children, in hyperactive subjects, with relationship difficulties, with socio-cultural inadequacy, deaf children, with genetic syndromes, for example Down syndrome or with pervasive developmental disorders such as autism. Some communication difficulties, speech and articulation can also occur in adulthood or involution following stroke, head trauma, neurological or degenerative diseases (Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, etc.); these are for example aphasia, dysarthria, dementia, cognitive-communicative disorders.
