About this course

Standard entry to this course requires one reference. It is desirable that you can demonstrate 90% attendance. A GCSE in both English and maths at grade 4 (C) or above is required, along with another two GCSE subjects at Grade C (4) or above. Consideration will be given to all applicants over the age of 19, who do not hold formal English and maths qualifications.

Course programme

Year 1

The qualification includes units such as: anatomy, physiology and psychology, these are mandatory units and are assessed externally. In addition there are other units which are assessed internally these are sports coaching, research methods and biomechanics. In addition, Functional Skills or GCSE may be studied alongside the main qualification. The focus of the course is to prepare students to move on and leave with the equivalent of three A level’s.

Additional information

Currently all units are assessed through coursework, which could involve written essays, presentations, verbal interviews or practical assessments. Please note the awarding body is looking at introducing exams in two units.
