This one year course will provide you with an excellent insight into the sport and active leisure industry, with an opportunity to gain extra sport coaching qualifications. Areas of study include:
Practical sports performance
The mind in sports performance
Leading sports activities
Lifestyle and wellbeing
Anatomy and physiology
Fitness for sport and exercise.
It also encourages personal development through practical participation and performance in a range of activities.

Course programme

The units are assessed through written and practical coursework.


Successful completion may lead to employment in the sports/leisure industry or progression onto a Level 3 course in sport (i.e. Sport (Development, Coaching and Fitness, Sport - Football Coaching and Performance or Sport and Exercise Science or a related subject area.

Five GCSEs at grade D or above. English and Maths at a minimum D/E grade.

Additional information

Students are required to purchase a course t shirt, polo shirt and hoodie. Students will have the opportunity to purchase a college tracksuit and sports related kit through their selected sporting teams. Minimal additional costs may be required for local educational visits.
