About this course
Upon successful completion you can progress onto working alongside medical personnel or Sports Massage practitioners. You could also progress into private practice, health and fitness centres and sports clubs. This course could lead to a degree in Sports Science.
Students will need to possess a Level 3 Sports Massage Certificate. This course is suitable for mature students with a good general education. You must have a positive attitude for the therapy and an ability to work as a member of a professional team. A well presented personal appearance is essential. Students should be 18 years and over.

Course programme
You will study:
- Anatomy and physiology specific to the skill area
- Manage injury in sports
- Advanced palpation and massage techniques
The course covers a range of practical assessments along with written assignments and external tests. A portfolio of evidence will be produced.
Candidates are expected to take part in work experience in Sports Massage for large scale events. This may include team or individual sporting events.
You will attend college one evening per week between 6pm and 9pm for 34 weeks. You will be expected to do a minimum of three hours per week of independent study.
