The greenkeeping and golf industry provides the perfect opportunity to work in a wide range of environmental situations with links, parkland and heathland golf courses throughout the UK. Apprenticeship programmes help in the training of young people who are able to undertake a range ofresponsibilities from craft level operations through to supervisory roles. College training is carried out at our Cannington Centre and makes full use of the College’s excellent sports turf resources. This programme is designed for anyone who has a keen interest in the greenkeeping and golf industry and prefers combining her/his practical abilities with the development of knowledge and understanding of greenkeeping activities.

You will cover the following subject areas: Maintaining the health of sports turf Presenting and repairing sports turf Use and maintain equipment and machinery Prepare and operate a tractor and attachments Health and safety Developing personal performance Establishing plants outdoors You will attend College one day a week and work with your employer for four days each week. If you do not have a job, the College may be able to help you find one. You will be paid a wage.
