SpringboardStevenage and WatfordFull timeSpringboard is a one year full-time personalised learning programme for young people aged 16-24 who require additional specialist support before progressing to college or employment. Many of our students have a diagnosis or traits of Autistic Spectrum Disorder and sometimes emotional, behavioural and mental health needs. The programme offers students the opportunity to develop skills in social communication, independence, English, maths and employability. Students develop the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions about their future career path and ultimately to progress into work.

Course programme
At Springboard students learn through a variety of physical activity, participation in group projects, work experience and academic study. This programme will include the following areas of study:
- Employability: Searching for a job, applying for a job, preparing for an interview, interview skills, working in a team, work experience
- Personal wellbeing: Interpersonal communication skills, healthy lifestyles, staying safe in the community and online, valuing equality & diversity and citizenship
- Functional skills: Maths, English and ICT
- Group art therapy: Exploring anxiety and emotional difficulties
- Group dramatherapy: Developing confidence in a group and exploring social situations
- Employability: Searching for a job, applying for a job, preparing for an interview, interview skills, working in a team, work experience

Students undertake extended work experience for a minimum of 30 hours during the year. Relevant placements are sourced that meet students’ interests and offer an appropriate level of support according to individual needs. Students also participate in group projects which further help to develop effective team working skills. There may also be opportunities to take part in voluntary work.
