Two day workshop

Specific soft tissue mobilisation is an approach to the management of soft tissue dysfunction that integrates current knowledge regarding anatomy, biomechanics and the healing process. The focus is on understanding the importance of progressively loading tissues during the healing process, on exploring practical methods of treatment application and on understanding and justifying the scientific rationale behind this approach. The balance of the course is 40% theory and 60% practical.

Course learning objectives: By the end of this course you should have:

• An increased understanding of the philosophy of SSTM
• An increased understanding of the assumptions made in the use of SSTM, and the level and types of evidence used to support and refute its use
• An increased understanding of the physiological and biomechanical models that underpin the use of SSTM
• An increased understanding of the principles and practice of SSTM techniques to the lower limb and Upper Limb
• An increased understanding of the synthesis between SSTM and other related therapeutic approaches
