Course overview Is this course right for me? Are you looking to gain a qualification but not sure where to start? Do you need extra support to help you achieve your goals? Welcome to STEP. This Study Programme will help you develop your confidence and abilities in different skills to help you make successful progression into further education, work based learning or employment. Throughout this course students will participate in a range of practical and theoretical sessions designed to support their development in areas such as confidence and career planning in addition to vocational and enterprise skills. All students will complete a generic Level 1 Certificate in Progression. This qualification will comprise of a range of units such as teamwork in the workplace and communication skills. Alongside this learners will also be able to access a vocational taster in areas such as: Creative Arts and Media Studies, Health and Social Care, Trade Professionals and Business Services . In addition to completing a Level 1 Award in your chosen vocational taster, you will gain an insight into working life and start to develop necessary skills and knowledge for progression within that vocational area. Work Experience is a compulsory element of the STEP Study Programme. Ideally related to your vocational area of interest, you will complete a minimum number of hours of work experience, either through a number of different placement settings or one single placement to fulfil the maximum period required. All full time students who do not currently hold a GCSE Grade A-C in English and maths will also be required to attend compulsory English and maths lessons. Depending on your GCSE grades this may involve re-sitting your GCSE or starting a course of study in Functional Skills. You will also benefit from learning support, enrichment activities and career advice to help you get into education, training or employment. So, what you waiting for? Take your first step towards a great new future today. Entry requirements You will need to be aged 16-18 and not in education, training or employment to enrol on STEP. Our course is aimed at entry-level learners who need support to develop their functional, personal and employability skills.
