During the week you can learn all of the processes below or select a specific process for as many days as you want within a 5 day period.

Relief; Linocut, Woodcut multi block or reduction.
Lithography; Traditional stone or photo-litho plate.

About this course

To learn a specific printmaking process and feel confident to progress further.

Beginners, those with some experience or just to refresh your skills in a specific process.

No prior experience is required.

We can give you a written confirmation that you have completed and are confident in a specific printing process.

You can pay for the course online, select 'courses for printmaking' then open the tab on the top of the page 'courses' and select 'Summer school' this will take you to the dates and days, select how many days you would like to attend and pay. Send us an email with the dates you can attend the studio for your course and we will send you an email of confirmation that your chosen dates are available.

Master Printmaker

James is a master printmaker who has been painting for 30 years.

Course programme

St Barnabas Press offers, courses in fine art printmaking.

Membership & Open access for artists; Membership £75per year and £7.50 per hour open access inclusive of general studio materials, you pay extra for what you print with ie etching plate, linoleum, wood, rental of screens and what you print onto ie; Paper.

Term time courses in a variety of printmaking techniques are provided Autumn, Winter and Spring. One class a week Thursday or Saturday 10.30am to 1pm. Costs for 10wks £225 this includes general workshop materials and teaching you pay extra for what you print with and what you print onto. During the Summer Months we offer the Summer School for those who are more interested in learning printmaking on 5 consecutive days. The cost is £335 inclusive of materials and lunch (if you use more materials than have been allocated for the course there will be extra costs). Please see website for dates and more details.

The press contains 14 mezzanine and ground floor studio spaces, rented to local artists and tutors. Studios are available to rent on a long or short term basis. There is usually a waiting list for spaces and take-up is based on your portfolio and your plans for work at the press.
