CONTENT:
The supervision and appraisal course defines the procedures for staff supervision and staff appraisal development, thus ensuring the link between, Management and effective performance/productivity.
OBJECTIVES:
On completion staff will be able to: • Understand and recognise the purpose of staff supervision. • Understand the role and responsibilities of the supervisor. • The frequency and duration of supervision. • Timetable / venue. • Preparation and agenda. • Recording monitoring and evaluation. • Understand the need for confidentiality. • Understand the need for personal development and motivation. Specific tailored courses can also be delivered for operational and strategic managers working within Children Services (This course will cover the following topics) To equip supervisors and front line managers to create and sustain an effective supervisory framework, which ensures safe, child-centered delivery of safeguarding activities. • Identify the purpose of supervision, • Explain the different models of supervision and their relationship to practice and safeguarding outcomes. • Identify both practitioner and manager skills within a competency framework. And using within appraisal framework • Apply principles of adult learning to your own supervision practice. • Recognise some of the unhealthy processes in supervision and their potential for dangerous practice.
