Course programme
You would normally be educated to GCSE level and will have good communication skills. You should already be working/volunteering or about to start working as a Teaching Assistant or a member of the support staff in a school. You will need the support of a mentor and expert witnesses to enable you to meet the evidence requirements of the qualification. You must provide a positive check through the Disclosure & Barring Service.
You will work towards nationally recognised QCF units and will attend a weekly class at one of our campuses. Your taught sessions will cover key aspects of the role of supporting teaching and learning in schools including health and safety, child protection and professional development. You will present a portfolio of evidence collected in the workplace.
You will be qualified to work in a school as a teaching assistant or similar role supporting teaching and learning. We can offer you a range of units that will compliment this qualification and enable you to progress to a Level 3 Certificate/Diploma for Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.
