The Advanced Level Apprenticeship adds more responsibility to the role. You could help plan, carry out and evaluate a wide range of learning activities.
You’ll work both alongside the teacher to support classroom activities, and alone with individuals or groups of students. It’s a good stepping-stone to a foundation degree or Higher Level Teaching Assistant training.

About this course

Entry requirements ( correct at time of publishing April 2014):
From 1 August 2014 government funding of early years educator training courses through the Skills Funding Agency will require GCSE English and mathematics, grade A*-C, on entry. Functional skills will not be accepted as equivalent to GCSEs. Learners' must prove prior achievement of this and record it in the learning agreement before enrolling learners onto an Early Years Educator programme. Course programme

In order to achieve a full Apprenticeship you must successfully complete the different parts of the framework over 12 to 15 months. This consists of sector related industry qualifications Competence qualifications available to this pathway: Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools Mandatory Units Understand child and young person development Understand how to safeguard the wellbeing of children and young people Communication and professional relationships with children and young people Schools as organisations Support learning activities Promote children and young people’s positive behaviour Develop professional relationships with children, young people and adults Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people Support assessment for learning Engage in personal development in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings Support children and young people’s health and safety The Optional units are chosen by the employer to reflect your job role Functional Skills qualifications: Level 2 Functional Skill in English Level 2 Functional Skill in Maths Level 2 Functional Skills in ICT + Employment Rights and Responsibilities + Personal Learning and Thinking Skills Apprenticeships give you the opportunity to work for a real employer, earn a real salary and gain a real qualification whilst gaining valuable workplace skills and experience.
