On successful completion of this short course you will be able to:
- Demonstrate understanding of the concepts of surface engineering
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge for the systematic application of alternative technologies used to fabricate coating systems
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the physics and chemistry of physical vapour deposition and chemical vapour deposition and their relevance to industry
- Demonstrate knowledge and critical awareness of plasma/surface interactions and their relevance to industry
- Demonstrate understanding and critical awareness of current principles of optical coating design
- Evaluate the microstructure characteristics used to describe materials
