We’ve all seen headlines like these: mass shooting in San Bernardino, terrorism suspected; 27 shot dead at Sandy Hook Elementary school; or shooter goes on a rampage at Virginia Tech, 32 dead. Active shooter incidents are not a new thing; since 1966, there have been 124 active shooter incidents in the United States where four or more people were killed by one or two gunmen. The good news is that there are some actions you and your workplace can take to mitigate an active shooter incident should one occur: prepare for it. This course provides guidance on how to respond to, prepare for, and follow-up on an active shooter incident occurring in the workplace or another public place. We all hope it never happens, and the odds of you being involved in one is extremely low. But if an active shooter incident does occur, your chances for survival go up when you are prepared!
