Swedish Summer School in Sweden

We offer 2, 4, 6, and 8 week summer courses in the Swedish language, and courses related to Swedish culture, history and society. The 2 and 6 week courses are only available for non-beginners in Swedish

You can study with us from the middle of June until the middle of August for 2, 4, 6 or 8 weeks.

Each year about 250 students and professionals take part in our Swedish Summer School to take advantage of an opportunity to learn Swedish in Sweden. All classes take place in Vuxenskolan, a modern facility in the centre of Uppsala with computers available for writing or internet access. During the summer, Uppsala is a beautiful and vibrant city. Riding a bicycle is the most popular way to get around town, although it is also easy to go by foot. Many events are organised each week during the summer by different cultural organisations, pubs and cafes. Music concerts are also given frequently.

As well as learning Swedish in the classroom, we offer unforgettable weekend trips to Helsinki and Varmland. Many students take part in sports activities during the weekends and after classes. Two highlights during the summer are the Potluck Dinner and the Farewell Dinner. Students bring food to the Potluck Dinner that is typical for their homelands, serving up tastes from all corners of the globe. Each four-week session ends with the semi-formal farewell banquet, when students and teachers perform songs and sketches. After dinner the banquet room is cleared for a night of dancing.

Upon request, we can issue a Swedish Student Card with which students can gain entrance to the Uppsala student ‘nations’ (you also need to bring an international student card). The ‘nations’ are pubs which offer good and affordable food and drink, and have dances several times a week offering a fun dimension to your experience at our Swedish summer school. The lake is close by and you can often find our students there on the weekends. Stockholm, with all it has to offer, is only 45 minutes away by train.

The course fee includes: All tuition, 28 -32 classroom hours per week; Study visits; A single student room; Guided tour of Uppsala; Excursions on Friday; Lunch on class days; Student card for Uppsala Extensive free time program, with films, performances, lectures on contemporary subjects; Farewell Banquet with dance afterwards

The "tuition only" course fee includes: All tuition, 20 -32 classroom hours per week; Study visits; Guided tour of Uppsala; Student card for Uppsala; Evening activities at the school.
