To identify school structures, systems and procedures.

To discuss the school day and classroom organisation.

To discuss the role of the teaching assistant and determine the personal and professional qualities required in the role.

To discuss learning styles and identify how these impact on learning.

To be aware of the national curriculum and to explore literacy and numeracy strategies.

To identify SEN at the present time.

To recognise a variety of specific learning difficulties and the mechanisms available to support pupils.

To identify resources to aid teaching and learning.

To recognise the principles of Child Protection Policies and Confidentiality.

To recognise the factors that motiviate and demotivate individuals.

To recognise the practices that build self-esteem.

A student log book will be provided for you to record your work.

Assessment

Continuous assessment. No formal exams are required.
