Careers

You can teach in Canada and around the world in language schools, elementary schools, high schools and at colleges and universities. Our alumni are, or have been, program administrators, program coordinators, have developed programs and written curriculum. They've worked as consultants and contractors and have pursued masters degrees (in many cases at TRU) and doctoral degrees in TESL at leading universities.

81 percent of alumni are teaching English, or in teaching.

What students say

Completing the TESL program has allowed me to work full-time while following my passion for traveling. After graduation, I worked at a language school in Poland for one year, and then taught ESL for one year in Japan. Working abroad as an ESL teacher has allowed me to visit new places and meet incredible people from around the world.
