Course programme

Requirements for Both Plan A and Plan B
English as a Second Language and Second Language Acquisition.
All of the following courses (24 credits):
Language Teaching Methods
Assessment for Language Teaching and Research
Teaching Second Language Reading and Writing
Topics in Second/Foreign Language Learning and Teaching
Second Language Acquisition
Research Methods for Language Teaching and Foreign/Second Language Learning
English as a Second Language: Classroom Practices
Practicum in Teaching English as a Second Language
The Analysis of Language. Both of the following courses (6 credits):
Interlanguage Analysis
English Structures and Functions
Language in its Social Contexts. One course dealing with language and culture, sociolinguistics, or language socialization and second language acquisition (3 credits).
Additional Requirements for Plan A
Four credits of LLT 899 Master's Thesis Research.
Pass an oral examination in defense of the thesis.
Additional Requirements for Plan B
One TESOL related elective (3 credits).
Pass a final certifying examination.
