This course is suitable for 16-18 years old candidates who would like progress to further studies in health and social care or work in the health and social care sector and have prior knowledge, qualification and/or experience of this subject area. It is also suitable for applicants aged 19 years and over who would like to undertake core learning about Health and Social Care enabling them to access work in the sector without progression to university. All applicants must undertake an interview and apply for DBS clearance to demonstrate that they do not have a criminal background which might prevent them from working with young people or vulnerable adults.

About this course
You will need to hold a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C or above including English or the equivalent in BTEC Level 2 qualifications, preferably in Health and Social Care or a related area, at Merit or Distinction grade and appropriate levels of English to support their studies at this level (determined by initial assessment). Learners who wish to progress to University will need to have a GCSE in Maths and English. For Nursing you will also be required to have GCSE Science. You may have the opportunity to complete a GCSE at Northumberland College alongside your main course.
