Course programme
The MA in Technology Enhanced Learning at Lancaster University is an entirely online, research-driven programme where participants develop their own voices and research skillsets targeted at contemporary developments in digital education from day one. We live in an era when technology is increasingly seen as a vehicle for change and innovation in learning and education – both inside and outside formal institutions. How does digital literacy underpin citizenship and employability in a globalising world? What does learning analytics mean for debates about measuring learning? Is gamification pivotal for motivating learners? How can mobile devices extend educational interaction and support lifewide learning? How does technology allow us to re-shape educational spaces and support more active forms of learning? This programme will develop discerning students who can decode the debates, identify the key issues, design and execute their own research projects, and boldly articulate their own positions.
The programme will be of interest to anyone with an interest in technology and education who wishes to pursue their own research. Many students will be professionals working in teaching and learning, e-learning, organisational training, online learning, and networked learning. The programme team are leading researchers in the field. Participants undertake four modules (30 credits each) plus a dissertation (60 credits). Participants work within a cohort of students who act as critical friends and a support network and benefit from periods of individual study under the direct supervision of a topic expert.
