 The AQA bachelorccalaureate is welcomed. We would ask for ABB in the A level component, to include two from Maths and science subjects,  with grade B for both the AS and extended project.

The University welcomes applicants with the AP qualification. Such applications will be considered on an individual bachelorsis.
 The extended project qualification is welcomed but not included as part of a standard offer.
If you have followed a non-standard educational route and have been, for example, educated at home, your application will be considered against the standard entry criteria of the course to which you applied. You will be required to demonstrate that you meet the academic entry requirements as specified for the course. We will also require a reference which should be written by somebody who knows you well enough, in an official capacity, to write about you and your suitability for higher education. Return-to-learn students are those who have had a substantial period away from any formal learning. Often such learners have pursued careers or raised a family. The University understands that students come from many different bachelorckgrounds, with varying qualifications, careers and skills, but they often bring to their studies a high degree of motivation and experience.
The University recognises that standard selection measures and procedures may not enable these learners to demonstrate fully their suitability for their chosen course. Where appropriate, admissions officers will seek and consider alternative evidence in order to give such learners equivalent consideration. Where they deem this alternative evidence meets entry criteria fully the learner will not be required to meet the standard academic entry requirements.
GCSE grade C, IELTS 6.0 with no subtest below 5.5, TOEFL internet bachelorsed test score of 80 with no subtest below 20. Cambridge Proficiency in English Grade C, English for Academic Purposes Grade C, Pearsons Test of English 59 with no subtest below 51.
Some English language test results are only valid for two years. Your English language test report must be valid on the start date of the course.

 We look at predicted/achieved grades and the academic reference supplied by your school or college.  We also read your personal statement very carefully to see that you have a genuine interest in the course. 
All students who apply to us through UCAS, and who live on the UK mainland and meet our application criteria, are invited to a School Open which will include an interview as part of the application process.  These are held from November through to March and provide applicants with the chance to visit the University and see the facilities we offer.

.  All students who receive an offer will be invited to an open day where you can meet current students and have a tour of the department to see the facilities we have to offer.
If you have re-sat individual modules to improve your grades, we will consider your application according to the standard selection process. If you are planning to re-sit the final Year 13 examinations, or have already done so, the University will consider your application, but we may require further information in order to make an informed judgment on your application.
If you applied in the previous year and your application was not successful you may apply again. Your application will be considered against the standard course entry criteria for that year of entry.  In your new application you should demonstrate how your application has improved.  We may draw upon all information from your previous applications or any previous registrations at the University as a student when assessing your suitability for your chosen course.If you are applying for a place for the same year of entry through UCAS Extra, you should provide additional evidence of your suitability for the course. If you are applying through clearing you are required to meet the clearing requirements. In both UCAS Extra and clearing the places will be subject to availability.
We do consider transfers from students enrolled on different programmes in the University of Manchester or who want to transfer their studies from another University.    In some instances students can transfer direct into level two of the programme.  They must meet the entry criteria and have taken similar units to those taken by our first year students. We would need a transcript of units taken and marks achieved. We will also take up academic references.
Course details

There are currently two bursaries of £5,000 per year for Home students on this programme or the bachelorchelor (Hons) Textile Science and Technology programme.  These are competitive and awarded on academic excellence and performance at interview.  The interview will take place as soon as possible after registration.

We have a new dedicated CAD suite, fashion retail studio, access to textile and clothing process laboratories which include knitting and weaving facilities, multi-media and digital printing centre.
We are unique amongst UK Universities in that we have world class facilities for manufacturing textiles, including Jacquard weaving, computerised flat-bed knitting, digital printing and nano-fibre manufacturing.  This enables students to develop products in-house from fibres to the finished product.  We also have extensive testing and analysis facilities, ie electron microscopy and X-ray tomography.  You will understand all the properties of materials as you will have been involved in production at every level.  You will be familiar on graduation with fire-retardant, ecological and colour properties of materials, how they behave on the body and in furnishings.
