Description of Major
The program in Music Theatre prepares students to become professional performers and scholars. Entering students audition to determine placement in appropriate Applied Music classes. Students choose voice as their principal instrument. A junior recital equivalency (MVV 3970) is required prior to graduation. Graduates of the program receive the Bachelor of Music degree (BM).

Requirements
Major Program of Studies at FSU: (63 hours)
Placement auditions for all entering students are given prior to registration. Jury examinations are given at the end of each applied music series. Proficiency examinations for acting, dance and music are given annually.

Music Theatre majors must register for Voice study each term of residence. Students will be required to complete a successful “exit” jury (voice, dance, and theatre) prior to graduation.

If the student exempts (without credit) the Class Piano proficiency of MVK 2121, the student will be required to enroll in MVK 1211. All students must have a minimum of 4 hours of Applied Music Secondary Piano study.
