Throughout the academic year you will take part in a broad range of activities that include working within ‘live brief’ opportunities, requiring you to work across a variety of locations to meet the needs of these exciting projects. You may well also participate within commercial salons as either a beauty consultant or hairdresser receiving treatments from your co-students, as well as performing them.

Course programme

Entry Requirements

To study this course you will need, four GCSEs at grade C or above including English and maths (or equivalent), or Level 2 Diploma in Hair and Media Make-up or Certificate in Beauty Therapy or Hairdressing.

Delivery and Assessment

You will be assessed through continuous observation of your practical work including written course work, exams, presentations and creating mood boards for your images.

Progression

After completing the Special Effects, Hair & Media Make-up qualification at Level 3 you may wish to further develop your technical skills within the creative Level 3 Hairdressing qualification at Birmingham Metropolitan College.
