Overview:
The research strategy of the Institute of Theology aims to offer Doctoral supervision across a wide range of theological disciplines. In addition to the historical and textual bases upon which successful PhD theses are focused, the Institute has expanded its research activities in the field of missiological and pastoral theology. Recent students successfully supervised within the Institute have come from within the UK and abroad. RESEARCH STRENGTHS The Institute of Theology is able to offer supervision in the following theological areas: Church History: the study of theologically-motivated movements and peoples in Christian history Historical Theology: development of doctrine from New Testament times to the present Missiology: strategies and movements of Christian missions New Testament: the literature, language and world of the New Testament Old Testament: the literature, language and world of the Old Testament Practical Theology: theories of worship/Christian communication
