Course review:

Our 'Total Interior Designer' course gives you all the skills you need without having to do 2 or 3 separate courses and will teach you the one thing some interior design courses don't have and that's CAD. The first module - Interior Design will go through drawing a plan to scale, planning a room plus making a mood board. In the CAD section, we will then draw the plan in 2D and 3D and put it all together in the last module - Photoshop. Not only will you learn what an Interior Designer does but you'll be able to draw it all up and put together your design using the latest computer software and you will also know how to do it on paper.

You will need a basic computer knowledge - you may be using Office (word or excel) or similar software. At the end of the course you will have the knowhow to draw up and print plans to scale, space plan and how to save in different formats so you can email clients and contractors. Think how much time you'll save!

Throughout the week you will learn:

2 days of interior design:

  • principles of interior design
  • taking a brief
  • colour - what it means and how it makes you feel
  • draw and plan a room to scale
  • how to work with what you have
  • how to choose colour
  • how to put a scheme together
  • create a mood board and product board
  • create a schedule of works
  • cost your scheme

2 days of CAD:

  • overwiew of AutoCAD platform and menus
  • setting up a template
  • drawing lines and shapes
  • hatching
  • modify tools
  • scale
  • creating and inserting blocks
  • layers and layer states
  • dimensioning
  • space planning
  • layout tabs
  • plotting and saving to pdf

1 day of Photoshop:

  • Photoshop platform and menus
  • layers
  • manipulating sizes and shapes of images
  • replacing colour
  • filters (eg. making a photo look like a sketch)
  • 'mending' old photographs
  • creating and manipulating text
  • creating shapes
  • saving images for websites
  • simple animation

We also tailor the course to what you need to learn for your particular circumstances. This is an ideal course if you want to learn what an interior designer does and get up and running as soon as possible. It may be you are taking a hobby into a business.

There are regular breaks and gourmet buffet lunches, all included in the price.
