Course review:
These popular Rugby courses will once again be run by a team of qualified RFU Coaches led by Paul Westgate, Director of Sport and Head of Rugby at Uppingham School. Paul is an Elite Level 5 Rugby Coach, a qualified RFU Trainer, Coach Educator and Mentor, and is currently Head Coach of the England Students. As well as being one of the top rugby coaches in the country, Paul has a vast experience of coaching rugby at school, county, regional and national level, and he has enjoyed success coaching the Spanish national team, the England Counties XV and the England U18 national development squad.
The coaching philosophy of Total Rugby is based on developing core skills, improving decision-making and increasing game understanding within a game-based learning environment. The course content will focus on the skills of passing, running, kicking, tackling and contact. We believe that young players learn more effectively and enjoy themselves more when they learn new skills and develop those skills through playing small-sided games. Each coaching session will have a theme and that theme will be introduced and developed within the framework of a conditioned game. Courses run from 10am-4pm daily.
We are offering a 3 day non-residential course over the Easter holidays, and a 4 day pre-season training opportunity as part of Uppingham Summer School's Festival of Sport in August, with residential as well as non-residential options.
