Course programme

Every learner at Central Sussex College who is under 19 will undertake a personal Study Programme designed to develop them academically, practically and personally. Study Programmes contain 3 essential elements:

Subject Course – Vocational or chosen Academic subjects, usually studied for 12 – 16 hours a week.

English and Maths – Every learner will work towards Level 2 English and Maths (C grade equivalent). Learners who have achieved a Grade C will extend their English and Maths.

3E – Our own brand of specific entrepreneurship, enterprise and employability training.

You will have specific time in your timetable for each of the three elements above and you will be expected to attend all elements throughout the year. Study programmes are designed to help you meet your maximum potential and progress to the next level of study of into work.

You will study units that may include:-

Unit 1. The UK Travel and Tourism Sector
Unit 2. UK Travel and Tourism Destinations

Mandatory units
Unit 4. International Travel and Tourism Destinations
Unit 7. Travel and Tourism Business Environments

Optional specialist units
Unit 3. The Development of Travel and Tourism in the UK
Unit 5. Factors Affecting Worldwide Travel and Tourism
Unit 6. The Travel and Tourism Customer Experience
Unit 8. Promotion and Sales in Travel and Tourism
Unit 9. Travel and Tourism Employment Opportunities
Unit 10. Organising a Travel and Tourism Study Visit

This course requires you to undertake a considerable amount of independent study under the guidance of your tutors.

Where necessary, students will be required to resit their English and Maths GCSE (or Functional Skills equivalent) alongside this course.

As part of the requirements of the course, students will spend one day a week at a work placement.
