Course OverviewThis course will look at the myofascial component of headaches, which require the use of Trigger Point acupuncture to reduce pain and restore function. The course will address recent research advances in the field of neural inhibitory mechanisms, myofascial pain physiology and acupuncture research, which will enhance delegates physiotherapy practice and manual skills.
This course provides a theoretical explanation using an evidence-based structure to demonstrate the physiological mechanisms of trigger point acupuncture incorporating principles and theoretical underpinning from Gerwin (1997, Travell and Simons 1992) whilst retaining the physiological theories of dorsal horn and descending acupuncture inhibitory mechanisms.
