Course Objectives:-
  • Basic construction, names of components and the purpose and use of all controls and gauges
  • Use of the operator?s handbook, etc
  • Pre-use and running checks
  • Set the trencher for site travel
  • Travel over different types of terrain, including rough undulating ground
  • Travel up and down substantial inclines
  • Manoeuvre in confined areas using forward and reverse direction
  • Explain precautions to be taken for underground services and other hazards
  • How to cut trenches in different ground conditions, including maintaining depth of cut on undulating areas
  • Varying ground characteristics and how to deal with them
  • How to cut trenches up and down hill
  • Placing the trencher in an out-of-service condition
  • Loading and unloading procedures on and off a transporter
  • Trained operator achievement test

Duration: Novice - Four days; Experienced - One day assessment
