This Trigger-Point Technique 1-day course is for those Massage and/or Aromatherapists who wish to add to their existing skill set, enabling them to release soft tissues that are resistant to massage alone.
The more tools the therapist has at their fingertips the less they need to refer to those with a broader skill base.
Our holistic training approach to learning Trigger-Point Techniques also enables Students to develop an increased awareness of issues of health and disease (physical and mental) in relation to the formation of Trigger-points. Understanding how damaging postural holding patterns form trigger-points in the soft tissues enables the Therapist to release them and to guide their clients in how to avoid their return.
A trigger-point is an area of local facilitation that can be housed in any soft tissue structure, most usually muscle and/or fascia. Palpation from the skin and sometimes with pressure is required to localise these. The Therapist locates and deactivates 'trigger-points', which are often tender areas where muscles have been damaged, or have acquired a recurring spasm or 'kink' that worsens painfully when aggravated. Treatment brings relief of pain, including referred pain, alleviation of cramping and muscles in spasm.
