Course Marketing Title
UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design (Top Up).

Overview
If you have already completed the 90 Credit Diploma in Art and Design, this top up Extended Diploma, will further develop your specialist skills in your chosen area (fine art, illustration, graphic design, textiles/fashion, 3D or photography), in readiness for higher level study or training. Throughout the year, you will develop a portfolio of art/design work to show your expertise in a specific discipline and assist you to progress in house or externally onto HE programmes or related employment.

Entry Requirements
You must have completed and passed our UAL Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design to be considered for a place on this specialist qualification.

Course Duration
One year – Full time.

Skills and Benefits
This 1 year Diploma qualification (equivalent to 1 and a half A’ levels) completes a 180 Credit qualification (first year 90 Credit Diploma, plus this top up qualifciation) and on completion you will have the equivalent of 3 A levels, which will allow to progress onto HE courses.

Mandatory Units
In addition to completing all nine units on the UAL Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design, you will be required to complete: Characteristics and contexts in art and design Preparation for progression in art and design Engaging with an audience in art and design

Optional Units
You must achieve one of the two optional units below: Project proposal and realization in art and design (at Level 3) or Project proposal and realization in art and design (at Level 4)

Course Assessment
Having completed Unit 1-9 on the UAL Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design, you will be: Internally assessed for Units 11 and 12 Extenally assessed for Units 13 or 14 (depending on unit choice) Your work will be finally assessed (by the course team) and externally moderated (by the UAL examiners) at the end of the academic year against the assessment and grading criteria for those units.

Progression
A range of FdA or BA Design & Visual Art Degrees at Stockport College or other institutions or employment in the Visual Arts.
