About this course
A variety of assessment methods will be used which can include presentations, essays, reports, video diaries, posters and discussion. Performance assessments will take place at the end of each term, either in local music venues or on the college premises.

Many students go on to Higher Education and previous students have gone on to perform in signed bands, set up their own record labels, work as promoters or giving private instrument lessons.
The course includes:
Looking at the process of becoming a professional musician.
Working in a band to develop your performance techniques and team working skills
Real life experience on production days at gigs for world renowned bands (eg: Kings of Leon, Coldplay and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.)
Music theory, listening, improvisation and composition.
Freelance World and Events Management units which give you transferable skills to help you become more attractive to potential employers and clients: administration, project management, working to deadlines, promotion, marketing, and negotiation, forging business contacts and formulating budgets, organising events, writing a business plan.
The College has a functioning record label and events company called Sham Records, which you will help run.
Using professional equipment to stage performances, produce recordings and promote your band.
Performances in the College Theatre on the Hill and the opportunity to arrange gigs in the local community.
Year 1 course = 90 credit Diploma
Year 2 course = a further 90 credits providing in total a 180 credit Extended Diploma
