If you are interested in sound and music production, live sound and events, and the music industry then this course is for you! You will cover a wide range of topics and build up a portfolio of professional quality work. This course is for students who have completed GCSEs or older students who wish to obtain a level 3 qualification. It covers a wide range of topics and skills related to music technology and production, and is taught in our dedicated recording studios and IT suites.

About this course
You will be assessed over the course of two years via a series of practical assignments which will demonstrate your skills. You will complete a portfolio in your second year including a major sound recording project, a business plan and a DVD of your sound for media work, and participate in the planning and execution of an all-day event.

The Music Technology course teaches not only the technical expertise required in this field, but also trains you in softer skills such as team work and project work. The aim is to produce work-ready people, fit for employment. The course consists of 18 units of study which include:

As part of the course, you will also have the option of taking Avid Pro Tools 101 and 110 software qualifications. Avid certification is a tangible, industry-recognised credential that can help you advance your career and provide measurable benefits to your prospective employer.
Year 1 course = 90 credit Diploma
Year 2 course = a further 90 credits providing in total a 180 credit Extended Diploma
