Course programme

Get your major project off to the best possible start. Understand what it’s all about and what’s expected of you. Explore how to choose the right topic, and how to research, prepare and submit your project. Ask your burning questions. Develop the confidence and skills you need to approach this piece of work.

If you’re studying for an undergraduate degree at Anglia Ruskin which includes a Major Project module, this course will help you to understand how best to prepare and submit it.

Perhaps you want to understand exactly what the major project entails, or you’re not sure what’s expected of you, or you feel a little nervous about embarking on a piece of work of this size. This module provides the encouragement and support you need to understand what is required of you, to clarify your thoughts and help you plan your strategy.

The major project enables you to draw together everything you’ve learnt, as well as (where relevant) what you’ve experienced in the workplace. It enables you to choose a subject which is both of interest to you and relevant to your own discipline, and to explore that topic in depth. You’ll explore the existing literature including research which underpins aspects of professional practice, and produce a substantial piece of work which makes a unique contribution to the field.

You may decide to continue your studies at a higher level after you graduate, perhaps with a master’s degree or PhD.

Why not give yourself the best possible start?

Course content

  • How to identify and seek out information from a variety of secondary sources
  • Analysing and synthesising (drawing together) that information
  • Turning your conclusions into recommendations for future practice.

Assessment
This will normally include a substantial written report in which you’ll identify an area of interest related to your practice or your course. You’ll develop and write a literature review, and you’ll be allocated a supervisor to support you in this.
