All therapists deal to some degree with the symptoms, causes and effects of disease and age-related conditions in the body. It is vitally important to have a basic understanding, not only of disease and its interpretation in medicine, but of the potential of a range of complementary therapies to assist in the healing process.
Pathology in this sense is studied not for the purposes of medical diagnosis, but to further understand the complexities of the human conditions of health and illness and to able to offer a more understanding and compassionate treatment to your clients, whatever your therapy.
This workshop examines the common pathological changes that take place in the body and their relationship to disease states as seen from the perspective of western medicine.
This course is beneficial is to the complementary practitioner, as it will enable you to distinguish symptoms common to disease from those that are idiosyncratic to the client– the latter being invaluable for a proper assessment.
It will also enable you to know how the disease is likely to progress should treatment be ineffective and help you know when to refer to another health-care specialist or medical doctor.
This course helps communication and confidence both with client and other health professionals and provides an understanding of conventional diagnosis, prognosis and treatment, and how these may affect your treatments.
This course is suitable for any practitioner who would like to know more about diseases so that you may offer your clients a safe and appropriate treatment plan.
