Topics covered
Capturing
Capturing 3D can be achieved with any digital camera (this could be a phone, compact or DSLR camera). You will learn the techniques required to successfully capture the 2D data needed to create a 3D object.
Editing
The course will offer you a simple 3D workflow with Autodesk packages, Momento and Meshmixer (all free to download) and a quick guide to image preparation in Photoshop. You will process the original images on cloud-based servers and then refine the outcome to make it print ready.
Output
You will be introduced to a variety of 3D printers and have the opportunity to 3D print . This will include ‘fixing’ the print to make it print (watertight) ready using cloud based server applications. We will also look at post printing clean up techniques.
We will visit My Mini Factory in order to provide you with an understanding of how this new technology is helping preserve artefacts with projects such as ‘Scan The World’.
Entry requirements: None
Please note: This course is for students aged 18 and older
