History

NAMTEC was established in 2002 as a knowledge transfer organisation to provide technical information and advice to metals and metals manufacturing companies across the UK. NAMTEC has established itself as part of the knowledge base of the country and provides essential support to a wide range of companies. Early projects that were developed, managed and delivered by NAMTEC included ‘The Advanced Metals Technology Initiative', which provided the traditional casting and forging sectors with access to the latest technology, helping to transform the competitiveness of the companies involved. In 2005, NAMTEC expanded its activities to include the development and delivery of high level technical training, specifically targeted to meet the needs of the metals and metals manufacturing industries, and the provision of research services through its partnership with Corus' Swinden Technology Centre, and an extensive network of universities and research and technology organisations.

Areas of specialisation

NAMTEC provides a focal point for the UK's vast range of technical expertise in the design, production, fabrication and application of metals.
