The upholsterer creates, replaces and repairs padding and upholstery (in fabric, leather and other upholstery materials) of upholstered furniture such as sofas, armchairs, chairs, but also of car and vehicle interiors. The upholsterer also takes care of the realization of curtains and the laying of carpet, wallpaper and wall coverings. First, plan the work to be done. The upholsterer defines the type of material to be used for the padding (wool, cotton, feathers, foam rubber, polyurethane foam, wadding ...) and for the upholstery (fabric, natural and synthetic leathers, technical fabric, PVC ...) , according to the different technical, aesthetic and stylistic needs and the intended use - for example furniture, interior or exterior coverings, nautical. Together with the customer, identify the best solution in terms of aesthetics, comfort and practicality and prepare a quote for the upholstery work. Depending on the specific characteristics of the product to be made, it glues and sews the different materials, inserts springing systems, applies decorative elements, finishes and any accessories for personalizing the items, such as buttons, zips, flounces, trimmings, studs.
