Who is this course for? Those wishing to pursue a career within the motor vehicle industry

Previous knowledge required: Although there are no formal entry qualifications, a good standard of literacy and numeracy is essential, as is the commitment to succeed. All applicants are subject to an interview and selection test.

What will I study? The Level 1 Light Vehicle Maintenance programme consists of four units: Introduction to vehicle technology and workshop methods and processes. Carry out basic routine maintenance Contribute to workplace good housekeeping Ensure your own actions reduce risks to Health and Safety

What else will I do? In addition to the main trade qualification you will also study the following: New Students: C&G 3901 Sutomotice Maintenance (Entry level 3) Level 1 Key Skills in: Application of Number; Communication; Information Technology. Students returning having successfully completed the Vehicle Fitting course: Work Experience Level 1 Key Skills in: Working with others; Problem Solving; Improving Own Learning and Performance.

How will I be assessed? There will be a combination of examinations and coursework.

What will I achieve? Students who successfully meet the criteria set out by the examining body will gain: The City & Guilds Certificate in Vehicle Maintenance (level 1) The City & Guilds 3901 in Automotive Maintenance (New Start only) Key Skills Units
