Summary

Programme of study as a full time student will be made up of several different components to ensure that you get the best possible opportunities and experiences when studying with us, and to increase and promote your progression opportunities going forward.

This qualification covers the technical needs for today's motor vehicle repair industry, including diagnosis of non complex faults. It provides essential knowledge for service technicians working on cars and light vehicles in all types of garages. During time at College students will gain basic vehicle maintenance and repair skills and study a number of units related to motor vehicles and the motor industry.

Units include:
Chassis technology
Routine maintenance
Engine technology
Transmission technology
Electrical and electronic technology
English and Maths to improve your GCSE grades
Soft skills development for employment.

Time at College will be divided into 60% classroom delivery and 40% practical/workshop activities. The course includes elements of health and safety, general housekeeping and industry standard repair techniques covering all the systems of the vehicle. Key skills will also be delivered at the appropriate level.

Additional information

Progression Successful students could progress onto an IMI Level 3 diploma in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair. A progression interview is required.
