The VFX Academy brings together over 25 years of experience in visual effects with the latest teaching methodologies to develop state-of-art courses in the field.

The VFX Academy is the result of a collaboration between highly experienced educators and industry specialists. We have developed and delivered a range of successful academic courses in this field, and we have worked with some of the best education establishments in England.

Our philosophy is simple. The VFX Academy closes the gap between vocational training and the academic education system.

We aim to ensure our students receive the most innovative, high quality education and training. Partnering with industry pioneers allows us to tailor our courses to maximise the opportunities available to graduating students and means that our courses will always be up to date.

VFX Academy tutors are industry professionals and academics with a proven wealth of knowledge and expertise behind them. We combine regular tutors and guest lecturers to provide our students with a comprehensive insight into all aspects of visual effects.

Leigh Took has worked in the industry since 1978. Starting as an apprentice in Pinewood’s matte painting department, he has worked on films such as Warlords of Atlantis, Octopussy and Clash of the Titans. He is a true pioneer in the field and produced some of the first matte paintings for Imax.

As well as being one of a handful of matte painters in the world, Leigh has accumulated over 25 years’ experience in the supervision of miniatures, optical and digital effects on feature films, television, commercials and pop promo’s.

Leigh's more recent portfolio includes The Descent, Wolfman, Angels & Demons, The Da Vinci Code and The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus. He is now breaking grounds in the Bollywood industry, providing visual effects for the Sci-fi movie - Ra. One starring Shahrukh Khan.

Combining decades of experience in both education and visual effects, the VFX Academy offers a range of specialist academic courses for the VFX industry. We will teach you everything you need to know to jump start your career, from creating mattes and miniatures to full CGI and 3D Animation. We are situated within a real London based VFX Studio to give you firsthand experience of the industry.
