On this course, you’ll learn both in the work place and on campus. You’ll develop your skills through a mixture of lectures, tutorials, workshops, seminars and virtual learning environments (VLEs).
Working in the tourism industry takes great people skills and teamwork. We give you case-studies, role-plays, simulations, presentations and projects (work-based and academic) for you to work in a group on joint assessments.
In Year 1 you will be employed in front-line roles during your time at the resort, in retail, hotel and park operations. By year 2 you’ll have the skills to work as a team leader at the resort. In total, you will spend 20 weeks in employment over the two years. Your time in the classroom will relate directly to your practical experience and skills gained working as part of the resort team.
During the course, you will:
Engage with complex and challenging problems
Use technical, digital and traditional resources to address problems, construct solutions and identify new topics for research
Learn about the business side of tourism as well as the customer service
Communicate effectively with others work in teams on collaborative activities.
