About this course
This introductory course in VFX will give you an overview of the language of VFX and how it is used in all production stages in today’s global filmmaking industry. You will gain an insight into the future of filmmaking and develop an awareness around the virtual production approach in filmmaking.
The course is aimed mainly at individuals that have a basic understanding of filmmaking. The course is also intended for qualified animation, media, engineering, computer science and VFX students now looking to back up their experience with a practical course led by world class VFX artists.
No minimum requirements.
Certificate of Completion
This is a brand new course and therefore features the very latest in filmmaking skills. It has been created by Academy Awards winners DNEG. Their work includes "Inception", "Dunkirk", "Blade Runner 2049", and most recently "Mission Impossible: Fallout". DNEG are currently working on a large number of project which include "Godzilla: King of Monsters" and "Venom".
On receiving your request, you will automatically receive a course brochure. A Student Advisor will also contact you to explain everything about this course, including how you can sign up, payment options and enrolment periods.
Class sizes are limited to ensure a high quality of instruction and engagement.
Students will be given a coursework folder with comprehensive notes to take home. They will also be invited to join the Irish Film School Alumni Association where they can continue to network with fellow students and instructors.

Jahirul Amin of DNEG leads the Visual FX course. DNEG is a visual effects and computer animation company that was founded in 1998 in London. It is one of the leading companies today in the field of Visual Effects. Experienced Instructors DNEG deliver “Greenlight”, in-house VFX and animation graduate training programmes, and are highly experienced instructors. The Greenlight programme is delivered in-house at their offices in London, Vancouver and Montréal.
