Graduates of the CCM voice program may find professional performance opportunities with opera companies, orchestras and other organizations that present classical music concerts. With an advanced degree, teaching at the college level is a possible career path.
Most graduating students will need to continue vocal studies either privately or in a graduate program. Professional singing is an extremely competitive field, and sufficient vocal and musical maturity are essential. CCM has an excellent record of graduates who have been engaged by American and European opera companies. Kathleen Battle, Barbara Daniels, David Daniels, David Malis, Mary Mills and Stanford Olsen are among former CCM students who have successfully launched performance careers. In addition, many CCM graduates hold teaching positions as artist-teachers on the faculties of many music departments across the country.
