About this course

There is a pre-requisite for this course of Swedish massage and beauty therapy facials. A current Health and Safety certificate with VTCT is also essential.( The health and safety aspect can be incorporated into the course with an additional fee).

Introduction:
Stone Therapy is a technique for using specific types of stones at different temperatures in contact with the skin in order to increase the effects of massage treatment for the face and body. Stone Therapy is an energy therapy and is concerned with creating balance within the body. By alternating temperatures via stones the therapy brings about a chemical response within all systems of the body.

Study Mode & Location:
The course is a three and a half hour session held at the Fulwood Campus.

Course Content:
The critical aspects of this qualification are safe use of heated and cooled stones and how to determine which type of use is most effective for the client. The consultation and treatment planning with the client is most important to establish satisfactory and advantageous use of the stones. The purpose of treatment is to improve relaxation and the client`s sense of well-being. Stone Therapy is most often used in conjunction with facial or body massage, but may also be applied separately.

Stone Therapy is a technique that can be adapted for use with beauty therapy treatments, holistic therapy and sports massage.

Assessment:
The course is a three and a half hour session where students will explore the history and safe use of hot and cold stones. Students will then go away and do case work either on friends or clients. A date will be given on the course when to hand in a portfolio of evidence.

A fee of £79.00 (plus the additional fee for Health & Safety if required.).

You will need to have an informal interview with an Adult Admissions Adviser.
Many courses have limited places so please enquire as soon as possible. Following interview, the earliest you may enrol is mid-June.
