If you can tear yourself away from your preferred medium, are in a dilemma about the direction of your work, or simply want to start making abstract works, then join this course to let go! Abstract watercolour pieces can break you free from the stranglehold of representation, are a joy to see and allow the emergence of visual sensations not necessarily perceived with figurative work. This course is about how to break free using the watercolour medium, which is perfect for making wonderfully fluid abstract works.

Course programme
- The course is taught through a series of carefully conceived exercises and creative accidents involving colour, textures, collage and stencils.
- We will see how the medium can be manipulated from a variety of sources to create pieces that have a balance of shape, colour, form, and light.
- The sources could be photographs or pictures supplied by you: situations, textures or whatever you feel would be appropriate to kick-start your work.
The works produced during the course could be seen as independent pieces or as working links between mediums such as oils or acrylics.
