The course covers a range of depilation techniques including;
• Warm wax
• Hot wax
This course provides training in various methods of professional waxing and hair removal. You may also want to use this qualification to become a wax technician that only offers waxing services to clients. You will be assessed in full and half leg, bikini line, underarm, eyebrows and upper lip and chin areas.
Course modules include:
Health, safety and hygiene
Preparation of client and work area
Client consultation and skin sensitivity testing
Contra-indications and contra-actions
Depilation of areas
Structure of the hair and skin
Skin diseases and disorders
Aftercare advice

About this course
It is possible to progress in this skilled area to an intimate waxing or threading qualification. Students may wish to apply for any full or part time beauty course at Gower College Swansea.
Suitable for students with a good general education who possess e.g. a Level 1 qualification or GCSE equivalent or a Level 1 ESOL qualification
A positive attitude and enthusiasm is essential. You must have good communication skills and be well presented.

Course programme
Delivered over one evening per week (6-9pm) and over 18 weeks. Delivery includes essential knowledge, health and safety and related anatomy and physiology.
Procedures and techniques are demonstrated by the tutor and learners will then perform the procedures on their model. Learners will be assessed on their practical techniques and by written assessments.
Students will be expected to undertake home study as directed by the tutor. There is an external written assessment. Practical service times apply for practical assessments.
