About this course

We’ll build your specialist knowledge in full stack design and development for websites and web applications, covering DevOps, database design, and modern development pipelines. Following user-centred processes, you’ll learn to analyse, design, evaluate and implement products. You’ll also learn programming principles and regulatory knowledge from the ground up and take on multidisciplinary team-based projects using Agile.

GCSE Mathematics Grade 4 (C), or equivalent.

104 - 120 UCAS points, primarily from Level 3 qualifications like A-Levels, a BTEC Extended Diploma, or a Foundation Diploma.

Course programme

1st Year

You’ll begin with a practical introduction to programming, computer technology, and computer science principles. Working in a multidisciplinary team, you’ll then learn Agile principles, pipelines, and processes to deliver a bespoke, interactive website for a game under development by other Games Academy students. You’ll also complete an individual creative computing project by learning about physical computing in the context of the Internet of Things (IoT).

2nd Year

You’ll learn how to leverage back-end web technologies likes database systems and servers, before studying front-end development and implementing an original web application. You’ll typically concentrate on areas like functional coherence, accessibility, usability and aesthetics, further supported by distributed systems.

Optional placement year

Growing your knowledge of DevOps in a cloud computing context for cloud orchestration, you’ll engage in collective innovation as an exercise in digital entrepreneurship and apply this knowledge to a team-based major web development project.
